Our Approach to Sustainability

Our winery and vineyards are certified under Australia’s most comprehensive sustainable winegrowing program, Sustainable Winegrowing Australia. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact, as well as protecting our people and the communities in which we operate. 

Henschke is proud to be accredited with Toitū Envirocare as a carbonreduce certified organisation. This means that we have committed to ongoing greenhouse gas reductions across all areas. We have identified and measured data for our greenhouse gas inventory, including an independent audit to confirm that our data is accurate and complete. This is a globally-recognised certification which states that our measured emissions comply with the ISO14064-1:2018 standard.

Through the SME Climate Hub, Henschke has committed to working with other small and medium sized businesses in the UN’s Race to Zero – reaching net zero emissions by 2050.

Henschke is also a member of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO), an organisation committed to reducing the environmental impact of packaging in Australia. We are pleased to have received the highest level of overall performance from APCO in 2023, meaning we have made significant progress on our packaging sustainability journey. Henschke also participates in the Australasian Recycling Label Program (ARL), a program run by APCO and aimed at making recycling information on packaging clearer to improve levels of recycling of used packaging. We are proud to have the ARL on much of our packaging.

Henschke is certified for quality (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001), safety (ISO 45001) and food safety (HACCP) systems by TQCSI.
