DO I NEED TO MAKE A BOOKING?

Bookings are essential to guarantee your tasting experience at Henschke. Make your booking via our website, over the phone or email. Our Cellar Door tastings are a 1-hour seated experience. We do our best to accommodate walk-in customers without a booking, but cannot guarantee this during busy periods.

ARE CHILDREN WELCOME?

Children are welcome at our Cellar Door and must be supervised at all times. We are a working winery and there is often heavy machinery being operated and vehicles moving around the property. Please let us know if you are bringing children at the time of your booking, so we can ensure there is seating available for them.

Dogs are welcome on a lead and must be tied up outside of our Cellar Door. Please be aware that we have a winery dog onsite that is not restrained. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome both inside and outside of our Cellar Door.

We offer guided tours as part of our Hill of Grace Experience and Mount Edelstone Experience, and these must be booked in advance.

  • "You can't go wrong with Henschke…So friendly, so knowledgeable, so welcoming! Kerry gave us a history lesson on each wine, adding to the love that I already had for the wines. The wines speak for themselves, but the experience of going to the tasting room should not be skipped...You won't be disappointed!"

  • "I was here with my wife and good friends from California who are avid wine drinkers. We tasted some of the best wines during our wine tasting session. Service was friendly, warm and caring. We also learnt about the history of the winery from the beginnings to the present sixth generation. We will definitely be back if we are in Adelaide. Thanks for an informative and beautiful experience."

The History of Our Cellar Door

The Henschke Cellar Door is housed in the original 1950s woolstore at the family property in Keyneton and features one of the remaining dry-stone walls of the 1860s grain barn, built by first-generation winemaker Johann Christian Henschke, a stonemason and wheelwright by trade.

These original buildings have been preserved and brought to life to become a unique Henschke tasting experience, paying respect to the past 150 years of Henschke family winemaking and embracing the future.

As you taste through a line-up of beautiful wines in these intimate surrounds, watched over by portraits of Henschke forebears, you will feel connected to the six generations of family who have contributed to the success of Henschke.

Taste through our extensive range, with a focus on exceptional-quality, single-vineyard and small parcel wines with a strong sense of place, beautifully handcrafted by the Henschke family, from vineyards in the Eden Valley, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills.
