|Background||The Barossa hills village of Keyneton, pioneered by pastoralist Joseph Keynes in 1842, was a musical and cultural focus for the early settlers, and was home to the Henschke Family Brass Band and the Henschke winery. The Henschke Family Band was founded in 1888 by Paul Gotthard Henschke and later led by third-generation Paul Alfred Henschke, and featured wonderful wind instruments such as a B flat euphonium, cornet and E flat clarinet. The B flat euphonium, a large brass wind instrument, was made by the famous Zimmermann factory in Leipzig, Germany, in the late 19th century. The instruments were imported by musical entrepreneur, Carl Engel of Adelaide in the late 1900s and have been lovingly restored and remain in the Henschke family.|

A blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2010 Keyneton Euphonium opens to pronounced Christmas cake, mulberries and preserved plum aromas highlighted by hints of sandalwood and star anise. Mouth-filling with spiced blackberry preserve flavors framed by a medium to firm level of velvety tannins and balanced acid, it finishes with great length. Drink it now to 2020+.

Frankly, it is irresistible, so don't expect to cellar it. Fresh, fragrant and pure, it has fleshy, velvety texture, blackcurrant pastille and mulberry flavours and lingers lush and long.

The nicely poised palate has good concentration of juicy berry fruit and sweetly spicy flavours, with medium body and a lovely long, soft finish. A beautifully made, gently Australian red.

Ripe, warm vintage means plenty of dark berries, hints of sage, lifted woody spices and savoury chocolate. The tannins are laid out evenly and carry freshness the whole distance – dark plum and cassis flavours right through the finish.

This 2006 is full of promise...Distinct blackberry shiraz aromas, really ripe and concentrated, pitched neatly into the zone, plums in there too and some punchy oak that's still settling in. The palate is chock-full of flavour and smoothly honed texture, more berries and some gentle earthy spiced complexity, the oak brings some chocolate around - tannins are sturdy. 93 points.

Black raspberry, boysenberry, cherry-cola and asian spices on the nose, with gentle oak spiciness adding further complexity...Firm minerality lends focus to an impressively long, juicy finish, which leaves anise and baking spices behind. Suave and sweet, with the balance to age but the sex-appeal to drink now.

An intense, elegant and measured red that takes time to open in the glass. Its minty, violet-like perfume of redcurrant, cassis, plums and fresh cedar/vanilla oak overlies a suggestion of dark chocolate and a slightly herbal hint of white pepper. Long, smooth and tightly knit, its vibrant palate of spicy berry and plum-like flavour overlies a dusty, fine-grained spine. It finishes savoury and slightly mineral with a persistent core of fruit. 94 pts.

Potent red and dark berries on the nose, with exotic notes of fruitcake, molasses, anise and dark chocolate. Smoky, musky tobacco and cured meat notes accent brooding, sweet blackberry and blackcurrant flavours, with a deeper espresso suggestion on the back...This has fruit to spare, the dark berry flavours showing excellent length and breadth. Score – 91.
